About

Hello, bonjour, hola, hallo, moien, buongiorno, dag, hej, bom dia, priviet, ni hao, selamat pagi, merhaba, namaste, kalimera, konnichiwa, saluton!

My name is Christine, I am 29 years old and a native of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg (yes, that is a real country ;-) ). I am a freelance legal translator with a passion for languages, writing, travel and photography. This blog is an attempt to combine them in order to share my travel photos and provide some information on the places I have visited. I firmly intend to see as much of the world as I possibly can, visit at least 100 countries and become fluent in at least 10 languages.

I am bilingual in French and Luxembourgish and speak fluent German, English and Spanish. I also have some knowledge of Russian and Esperanto and am currently working on Italian and Dutch.

I have lived in: Luxembourg (for most of my life), Canada (living with a Canadian family and going to high school in Ontario for 3 months in 1997 as an exchange student), Switzerland (over 5 years as a student in Geneva between 2000 and 2006 and 5 months in Zürich in 2005 as a trainee in a bank) and Spain (6 months as an exchange student in Madrid in 2002-2003).

I have been to: Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Monaco, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Italy (including the Vatican), San Marino, UK (including Scotland), Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Greece, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Latvia, Estonia, Morocco, the USA, Canada and Mexico (29 countries). I have also set foot on Icelandic soil during a stop-over in Reykjavik.

My other websites are: www.christineschmit.com (professional translation services) and www.polyglot-blog.com (my blog about translation, interpreting and languages)

    Hi Christine,

I recently found your blog on TBEX and I thought you might be interested in UpTake’s new program called “Travel Gems” that features blog content from across the web on our site. It brings great blog content to a wider audience and helps bloggers like yourself increase traffic to their own blogs. I’d love to speak to you more about how this program works and see if you are interested in participating.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,
    Brittany
